Biography

Lane Thibodeaux has practiced law in the Brazos Valley area for more than twenty years.  He holds dual Board Certifications in Criminal Law and Personal Injury Trial Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  Mr. Thibodeaux has tried more than 70 cases to juries in State and Federal court.  His criminal jury trial experience is diverse, ranging from defense of murder charges to driving while intoxicated cases.

Mr. Thibodeaux has acted as lead counsel in 33 appeals, 20 of which have been published.

Mr. Thibodeaux is licensed by the State Bar of Texas, the United States District Court for the Southern, Western, and Northern Districts of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Mr. Thibodeaux is a member of the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.  He is also a member of the Criminal Justice and Juvenile Law Sections of the State Bar of Texas.  Mr. Thibodeaux is also a member of the Brazos County Bar Association, serving as President in 2008.   He is a past President of the Brazos Valley Young Lawyers Association.

In 1991 Mr. Thibodeaux won the Brazos County Bar Association Pro Bono Award in recognition for his dedication in serving the legal needs of the underprivileged.

Mr. Thibodeaux graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government where he was a member of the National Social Science Honor Society, Phi Gamma Mu.

Mr. Thibodeaux received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas in 1985.  In law school, Mr. Thibodeaux was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in the study of Constitutional law, was on the Dean's List and inducted into the honorary advocacy fraternity, The Order of Barristers.

He is married to former Brazos County Assistant District Attorney and Baylor Law School graduate Beth Smith Thibodeaux.  They have three children.  Mr. Thibodeaux has also completed four marathons, including the 2000 New York City Marathon.
